Richard Garey is a director and a playwright, but the title he likes best is ‘actor’. He feels he does his best work in front of a live audience. All of the shows listed on this site have been written or compiled by Garey himself and he takes great pride in their historical accuracy. Originally of Jackson, TN, Garey is an English graduate from James Madison University and a full-time resident of Hannibal. Acting for about 40 years, he established Heritage Stage Productions in 2002 and purchased the Planters Barn Theater in 2003. When he’s not doing shows, he often travels the country, and sometimes the world.
